Hello there! This week, I have an announcement to make. I’m now offering online private lessons!
A lot of people have asked me if I could teach them, but until now, I hadn’t set up a way for students to make bookings and payments. I’m happy to say that has changed and you can reserve a lesson with me now. 🙂

What kind of lessons?
I expect most of my students are familiar with my YouTube channels, so I would like to focus on speaking English. Here are some suggestions, but you can choose what to study.
- English Speaking Skills / Fluency Training
- Fluent Reading / Pronunciation
- Speaking Test Practice (IELTS, TOEIC, Eiken)
- Conversational Textbook (PDFs provided)
- News and True Story worksheets
How much do they cost?
I’ve decided to price my lessons at around the same as other English teachers on YouTube. I know they look expensive, but you’re getting a teacher with over 25 years of experience. Please also understand that Nick’s English is my main job, not a side-gig (extra job) for a little extra cash. 😅
- $40 / 50-min lesson – 1 lesson
- $36 / 50-min lesson – 10 lesson pack
- $30 / 50-min lesson – 4 lessons / month (subscription)
The “Monthly Subscription” option will be available from July. My brother is coming to visit me in Japan for two weeks in June, so I’ll start after that.
When are you available?
This might be a problem for some of you, depending on your timezone. My lessons are mostly from 10am – 2pm on weekdays. That’s JST (Japan Standard Time). In the future, I will open more lesson slots. You can see when I’m available on my booking page.
I have more questions!
Please see the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions – pronounced fack) on my services page.
British English
Since this newsletter is about booking an appointment, here are some natural British phrases used to do just that:
- “Fancy meeting up for a chat next week?”
- “Shall we have a natter over coffee sometime soon?” (natter = chat)
- “How about we catch up over a brew?” (brew = cup of tea)
- “Fancy grabbing a pint and discussing this further?” (pint = beer)
- “Let’s sort a time to have a chinwag about this, yeah?” (chinwag = chat)
New Worksheets and Videos
Before I finish my cup of tea, I want to show you what I’ve made since the last newsletter:
Videos:
- English Speaking Skills – Present Perfect: Repeat, Shadow and Practice
Worksheets:
- Speaking Skills: Active Grammar: Have you seen my phone?
- Speaking Skills: Speaking Gym: I can’t help…
- News: NASA urged to help in Loch Ness monster search
- News: Late night ice cream ban in Milan
