Hello again!
In this regular newsletter, I sit down with a cup of tea and tell you about my recent worksheets, video lessons and social media posts. I also share study tips, cultural insights, and try to motivate you to keep working on your English fluency! Subscribe to get this newsletter in your email.
Site News
Since the last newsletter, I’ve made three new lesson worksheets and one YouTube video:
- News – Family dog eats $4,000 in cash! (with YouTube video)
- News – Football team flies 7,000km and loses 12-0!
- Easy English – Ben’s amazing grape art
Nick’s News
I would love to make videos of me standing in front of a whiteboard. To do that, I needed to get a wireless microphone. First, I bought a really cheap one from Amazon, but the sound quality was terrible! So I bit the bullet* and got a really good one, the Synco G2 Pro. It’s amazing!
- to bite the bullet = to force yourself to do something you didn’t want to do. In my case, I didn’t want to spend a lot of money, so it was a difficult decision.
British Culture
I said in the last newsletter that Britain is underwater. Well, it still is. Flooding continues across England.
British English
Speaking of flooding, here are two English phrases to describe a flood:
- “We’re up to our necks in water“ – you can imagine this one!
- “It’s a washout” which is used when an event has been ruined (made bad) because of heavy rain.
Study Tip
From the story about the family dog eating $4,000 in cash, notice the stress on the important words. Also, “took” and “Cecil” (Sessul) are linked together. Finally, “to” and “the” are reduced and blended together by saying them quickly.

Motivation
I came across a YouTube channel called “English Boosting Power” which is presented by Havisha Rathore, a super energetic young Indian lady. I love her enthusiasm and focus on study motivation. Check out her video: Follow this timetable in 2024 to learn English and improve your Fluency.
Thank you for joining me for tea! If you’re enjoying my blog, please share the link with your friends. I really appreciate it!
All the best,
Nick
