Labubu dolls, made by Pop Mart and designed by Hong Kong artist Kasing Lung, are small monster-like toys first sold in 2019. They come in many colours and styles, and are often bought in "blind boxes," where buyers do not know which one they will get.
The dolls became very popular after Blackpink's Lisa showed them on social media in 2024. Other celebrities like Dua Lipa and Rihanna also helped. Many people now use Labubus as fashion items.
Because demand is so high, shops in the UK stopped selling them in stores after customers began fighting in queues. Some rare dolls sell for thousands of pounds online. However, fake versions called "Lafufus" are dangerous because they may break or contain unsafe materials.
| A: | Did you see the queue outside the shop today? |
| B: | Yeah, it was crazy! All for those Labubu dolls. |
| A: | I heard someone even tried to sell their spot in line. |
| B: | Wow, people really love these dolls. |
| A: | I just hope they get the real ones, not the Lafufus. |
| B: | True, nobody wants a dangerous fake! |
