A mother and daughter from Texas have made headlines by graduating together for the fifth time. Alissa, the mother, is 50 years old and Elizabeth, the daughter, is 25 years old. They both achieved straight A's in their Master of Social Work program at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio.
Elizabeth says that her mother is her best friend and all their classmates call her "mom". The duo has earned five degrees together, including three Associate's degrees and a Bachelor's degree from Mary Hardin-Baylor, which is a private Christian university in central Texas. They plan to take a break before starting a Ph.D. program at Our Lady of the Lake.
The mother-daughter duo had some difficulties in the past, including losing their home during Hurricane Harvey and living in a hotel for three years. Despite this, they persevered and achieved their academic goals.
| Elizabeth: | Mom, we've graduated together five times now! |
| Alissa: | Yes, we're like eternal students, aren't we? |
| Elizabeth: | It's like we can't get enough of school! |
| Alissa: | You're right! Maybe we should just live on campus. |
| Elizabeth: | That's not a bad idea, considering our history. |
| Alissa: | Let's take a break before we sign up for Ph.D.s! |
