The first World Humanoid Robot Games took place in Beijing, with more than 500 robots from 16 countries competing. Teams showed their creations in sports such as football, athletics, dance, and even kickboxing.
The Unitree H1, a full-size humanoid standing 1.8 metres tall, impressed crowds in the 1500-metre race. But robots often lost balance, ran out of battery, or broke down. One robot even lost its head mid-race.
Hong Yun, a retired engineer, said, "Seeing the robots race was much more exciting than seeing real humans." China hopes humanoids will help with work and elderly care.
| A: | Wow, did you see the Unitree H1 in the race? |
| B: | Yes, it was amazing! But did you see the robot that lost its head? |
| A: | I did! I couldn't believe it. Poor thing! |
| B: | I know, right? It's like something out of a comedy show. |
| A: | Still, it was more exciting than watching humans race. |
| B: | Totally! I can't wait for the next games. |
