Amazon has started a new service in Japan called Amazon Pharmacy. This service allows people to get prescriptions delivered to their homes, so they don't need to visit a pharmacy in person. Amazon is working with about 2,500 drug stores across Japan.
Hiroshi Maeda, an Amazon Japan executive, said, "We aim to provide services tailor-made to each customer's healthcare needs." The service is especially useful for people with chronic health issues, like hypertension.
Users can get electronic prescriptions after an online diagnosis or visit to a clinic. They can also talk to pharmacists through video chats. Currently, nine pharmaceutical companies are working with Amazon, and Amazon plans to include more pharmacies in the future.
