Hello there! In this week’s newsletter, I’d like to introduce my free PDF course, English for Studying Abroad<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I actually made this course a few years ago. It consists of<\/em><\/strong> (contains) 10 lessons that follow the story of an 18-year-old Japanese student called Maki. Lessons include role-play scenarios <\/em><\/strong>(situations), practical vocabulary, and cultural tips for living overseas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guide to the IELTS Speaking Test<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you want to study abroad, especially in Europe, you may need to take the IELTS test. I have a student who is going to study music at a university in Hungary. She needed to get a good score in the IELTS speaking test, so I made a guide for her and she passed! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

British English<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Since this newsletter is about studying abroad here are some natural British phrases used to do just that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Going overseas<\/strong> – This is a common way to say that someone is going to study in another country.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Taking a year out<\/strong> – Often used to describe a gap year spent studying or working abroad.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Studying off the beaten track<\/strong> – Used to describe studying in a country that is not a typical destination for students.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Heading to foreign climes<\/strong> – Refers to moving to a different country with a notably different climate for study.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Getting a taste of university life abroad<\/strong> – This phrase is used to talk about experiencing what studying at a university in another country is like.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Broadening one’s horizons overseas<\/strong> – Describes the benefit of gaining new experiences and perspectives by studying in another country.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
